This kitchen received little natural light, and the owners felt the existing dark finishes made it feel too dark. They wanted a lighter look. We wrapped the cupboard doors and selected carcass interiors in Cover Styl NE77, keeping some of the original colour for contrast.

The project at a glance

Material: Cover Styl NE77. Scope: cupboard doors and selected carcass interiors. Kitchen-wrap price: R19 000. Some original dark elements were retained.

The splashback used material supplied by the customer. We installed it at no additional charge for this project; that arrangement is not a standard inclusion in our kitchen-wrap pricing.

The brief: lighten the finish without losing contrast

The starting point was the customer's concern about a dark kitchen with limited natural light. A lighter cupboard finish would change the appearance of the room without requiring every visible element to be the same colour.

We selected Cover Styl NE77 for the cupboard doors and the interiors of some carcasses. Keeping selected original dark elements created contrast with the lighter finish.

What changed, and what stayed

The before-and-after photos show the change from dark cupboard fronts to the lighter NE77 finish. The customer-supplied splashback material also changed the appearance of the wall behind the hob. Some original dark finishes remain visible, so the result combines light and dark elements rather than one finish throughout.

The photographs show the actual project. The change was to the finishes; it did not add windows or increase the amount of natural light entering the room.

What did this kitchen wrap cost?

The kitchen wrap cost R19 000 for this project. That is an example of a specific scope, not a fixed price for every kitchen. The number and size of surfaces, their condition, film selection and travel affect a new quote.

Our kitchen quotes range from R17 000 to R25 000, with larger or more complex kitchens costing more. Your quote sets out the surfaces and preparation included. Splashback work is assessed separately; the customer-supplied material and complimentary installation here were specific to this job.

Considering a lighter finish for your kitchen?

Start with a wide photo of your kitchen and close-ups of the doors, edges and any damage. Tell us which surfaces you want changed, which finishes you want to keep and your suburb or town. That helps us assess the scope and recommend the next step.
